After announcing plans to open a consulate in Bengaluru and Ahmedabad earlier this year, Eric Garcetti, the US Ambassador to India, hinted at the possibility of the Bengaluru consulate being operational by January 2025.
Speaking at a session organised by the US-India Business Council (USIBC), Garcetti emphasised that the US is the only major country without a consulate in Bengaluru. He remarked, “We are working very hard on this. I hope to announce some good news shortly. We already have the Foreign Commercial Service in Bengaluru. We are committed to fulfilling our promise of opening the Bengaluru consulate, hopefully by January.”

It will strengthen ties between India and the U.S, fostering closer diplomatic, technological, and economic collaborations.”
